Max Born approximately 1990
Came to rescue in June 2002
Departed September 1, 2006
It is with great sadness I write to let you all know that Max has passed away. He came into our rescue in 2002 and was not expected to make it at that time. He was emaciated (weighed 8lbs), had pneumonia and heart disease. He was later found to have mass cell tumors also. Max defied the odds though and survived 4 more years. Just a few months back I adopted him myself as I felt he deserved to be more than a foster. He was loved dearly and will be missed.
Max was guessed to be 16 this year. He just could not fight the heart disease and longer. Sept. 1st, I got home from work and found him laboring to breath. He had done this before and always pulled through after a couple days of increasing his lasix, so I was not too alarmed. After I woke from sleeping, I found Max unable to stand on his own, and his mouth turning blue. He could barely pick up his own head and had coughed up a lot of fluid in his bed. I rushed him to the vet hoping we could pull him though this crisis, but the vet felt he had only hours left. I did the humane thing and let him go.
Please keep max in your thoughts as he finds new friends at the bridge tonight.
